Layer 1 · Demand

Be findable by people already looking

Technical foundations, content built around the questions your buyers actually search, and the consistent signals search engines and AI answer engines both read.

  • The same durable foundations for search and AI answers
  • Content built around buying questions, not keyword volume
  • Measured against qualified inquiries, not impressions

Organic discovery usually takes longer than direct-response work to show a return, but useful pages and technical foundations can keep contributing after they are published. Everything else on this page follows from that tradeoff.

It is also work I may tell you not to buy yet. Sending more traffic into a conversion or follow-up problem makes that leak more expensive: you invest in the visit, then lose it somewhere you were not watching. Demand work is worth doing once the downstream path can hold what it delivers.

On AI search specifically, there is no secret schema or separate channel to game. Google’s published guidance says its AI features use the same SEO foundations: crawlable pages, helpful content, good page experience, and structured data that matches what is visible. That supports careful SEO and clear entity information, not guaranteed inclusion or a proprietary AEO trick.

Fit

Who this is for

A good fit

  • Your conversion and follow-up already work and you want demand that compounds.
  • You do not appear for the services you actually sell.
  • Your traffic is almost entirely branded, or almost entirely paid.
  • You want to stop renting attention monthly.

Not a fit

  • Your conversion, capture, sales, or retention path is leaking. More traffic makes that more expensive, not less.
  • You need a predictable revenue result this quarter. Organic timelines vary and cannot honestly guarantee that.
  • You want guaranteed rankings or guaranteed AI citations. Nobody honest sells those.

Symptoms

You're in the right place if

  • You do not appear for the services you actually sell.
  • Your traffic is almost entirely branded, or almost entirely paid.
  • Competitors with worse work outrank you consistently.
  • You have pages that were written for search engines and read like it.
  • Your business details are inconsistent across the web.
  • You want a channel that keeps producing after you stop paying monthly.

Scope

What gets built

01

Technical foundations

Crawlability, indexation, canonical handling, redirects, site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and mobile behaviour. Unglamorous foundations that can suppress otherwise useful pages when they are broken.

02

Content around buying questions

Service pages, comparison pages, and genuinely useful answers to the questions people ask before they buy. Built around commercial intent rather than raw search volume, because a page that ranks for a term nobody buys from is a cost, not an asset.

03

Entity and business-information consistency

Your name, description, location, and identity stated the same way everywhere it appears, and connected through structured data. This is what lets a search engine be confident which organisation you are — which matters far more when your brand name is not unique.

04

Answer-engine foundations

Clear factual content, demonstrable expertise, consistent business information, and structured data that matches the visible page. The same durable work that serves traditional search. No guaranteed placement, because none exists.

05

Local signals, where they apply

Location and service-area signals handled honestly. If you have no verifiable public address, I will not build you a local strategy that risks a suspension. That is a real tradeoff and you will hear it before we start.

06

Measurement tied to inquiries

Search Console connected, monitored, and reported against qualified inquiries rather than impressions. Rankings that produce no conversations are not a result.

Process

How the work runs.

01

Fix the foundations

Crawlability, indexation, canonicals, redirects, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and mobile behaviour. Unglamorous foundations that can suppress otherwise useful pages when they are broken.

02

Find the commercial questions

What your buyers actually search before they buy, filtered by commercial intent rather than raw volume. A page that ranks for a term nobody buys from is a cost.

03

Build the pages and the entity

Service, comparison, and answer content, plus consistent business information and structured data so search engines can be confident which organisation you are.

04

Measure against inquiries

Search Console connected and monitored, reported against qualified inquiries rather than impressions.

Outcomes

What changes, and what does not.

These are the kinds of change this work produces. No numbers appear here, because no client result has been measured and published yet. When one has, it will appear in Work with its baseline, method, and time window.

  • Technical foundations stop suppressing pages that should rank
  • You appear for the services you sell, not only for your own business name
  • Business information is consistent enough for search engines to identify you confidently
  • Content is structured so AI answer engines can extract and attribute it
  • Organic performance is reported against qualified inquiries, not impressions

Tooling

What this typically touches

Categories, not endorsements. No paid link building, in any package.

Search

  • Google Search Console
  • Bing Webmaster Tools
  • Structured data testing

Measurement

  • GA4
  • Server-side events
  • Rank and citation monitoring

Content

  • Your CMS
  • Static site generation
  • Schema generation

Entity

  • Business information consistency
  • Profile and citation alignment

What this is not

  • It is not guaranteed rankings, citations, or AI placement. No honest provider offers those.
  • It is not hundreds of thin location pages, and it is not paid link building.
  • It is not a monthly retainer that reports on impressions. The measure is qualified inquiries.
  • It is not the first thing you should buy if the downstream path is leaking.

The connected view

This sits inside the diagnostic path.

A growth system is only as strong as its weakest handoff. Fixing one checkpoint in isolation helps only if the adjacent checkpoints can carry the result.

How long does SEO take?

There is no universal timeline. As an Ariadne planning heuristic, a new or low-authority domain should be funded for several months before organic work is judged, and competitive categories can take longer. Existing authority, technical condition, competition, content quality, and search demand all change the answer. A proposal should state what will be measured before it states a date.

What is AEO, and is it different from SEO?

Answer engine optimization means making your business easier for AI-assisted search tools to understand and cite. It is not a separate channel with its own tricks. Google’s published guidance is explicit that AI features rest on the same foundations as search: crawlable pages, helpful original content, accurate business information, page experience, and structured data matching visible content. There is no special AI schema, and placement is never guaranteed.

Would you ever tell us not to invest in SEO?

Yes. If conversion is weak, follow-up is inconsistent, or you cannot measure what already works, buying more traffic can make the leak more expensive. An audit can recommend fixing those layers before increasing demand.

Do you do link building?

Not paid link building. It is the wrong risk profile for a firm whose entire argument is that it does not fake proof. Links get earned through content genuinely worth citing, published work, and the kind of mentions that follow doing something notable.

The audit reviews your technical foundations and organic position alongside the other eight diagnostic checkpoints, then tells you whether demand is the active constraint or whether the evidence points somewhere cheaper to fix.
